Kondwani is an immunologist with a particular interest in mucosal immunology, T cell biology and flow cytometry. He is a Wellcome Intermediate fellow based at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical research programme (MLW), where he heads the Viral Immunology research group, co-leads the MLW Immunology research theme and runs the MLW Immunology lab. He did his PhD at the University of Liverpool/Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), and subsequent postdoctoral training at MLW and Cornell University (USA). Kondwani is faculty on three regional immunology workshops/programme that focus on training the next generation of immunologists in Africa.
