Paper on respiratory microbiota in children published in BMC Infectious Diseases
Congratulations to MPRU collaborator Dr Felix Dube and co-authors on their recent publication in BMC Infectious Diseases! Felix is the senior author on this paper, which describes the prevalence of common respiratory mucosal pathogens in children with HIV-associated chronic lung disease (CLD) in Zimbabwe and Malawi. Felix and colleagues found that not only are these children more likely to carry Streptococcus pneumoniae and Moraxella catarrhalis than children without CLD, they are also more likely to carry antibiotic resistant S. pneumoniae.
