Review on vaccine strategies published in Expert Reviews of Vaccine

Congratulations to MPRU PhD student Deus Thindwa and colleagues on their recent publication in Expert Review of Vaccines! This review summarizes the prevalence of pneumoccal infections in HIV-infected adults, finding a disproportionate burden of disease in this population. The literature review presented also highlights the beneficial effect of pneumococcal vaccination in protecting this vulnerable population. Adults are not typically vaccinated against S. pneumoniae, so the authors propose vaccination strategies to tackle this important public health problem.
