Updates from the MPRU Conference 2020

03 Nov 2020

Thank you to all speakers, chairs and attendees for making the MPRU Conference 2020 engaging, informative and enjoyable.

The keynote speakers, Nick Feasey and Chris Chiu, gave interesting lectures looking into the future of K. pneumoniae vaccine development and usage of human challenge models to better understand mucosal pathogens, respectively. Early career researchers shared their research findings and received good feedback from senior researchers all over the world, and the breakout sessions generated new ideas on approaching global health challenges related to mucosal pathogens especially in LMICs. The special section on COVID-19 also highlighted the work that MPRU researchers have adeptly pivoted to in support of public health surveillance and governmental policy in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Although a virtual conference is quite different from the in-person conferences we are used to, thanks to all who made the MPRU Conference 2020 a success.

We hope to see you again next year with more updates on the important research into understanding, tracking, preventing and treating mucosal pathogens.
