Assessing the potential of reduced dose immunisation strategies for pneumococcal conjugate use in Africa
Principal investigator: Stefan Flasche

Co-investigators: John Edmunds, Anthony Scott, John Ojal
Start date: September 2018
This project will use epidemiological data from three main sites of the MPRU: The Gambia, Kenya and Malawi. We will subsequently construct mathematical models to analyse factors under which a 1p+1 and a 2p+1 PCV13 immunisation schedule in Africa offer non-inferior protection to infants if compared to the current 3 dose infancy schedule.
Aim and Impact
Assess minimal campaign size needed to interrupt vaccine type pneumococcal transmission through a modelling study across three African sites.
